Tusheti only opens for three months, and the Abano pass is the way in. A short, high trip: gravel roads above the treeline, stone villages, shepherd families and the quietest valleys in the Caucasus — with a 4x4 and a local driver throughout.

Day 1
Tbilisi
Arrival, briefing, and an evening in the old town before an early start.
Day 2
Over the pass
The long climb to the Abano pass, first views of Tusheti, night in Omalo.
Day 3
The towers
Keselo towers, the Omalo museum, and an afternoon walk to Shenako.
Day 4
Dartlo
Drive and walk to Dartlo, the stone court house and the old cemetery, guesthouse night.
Days 5-6
Shepherd country
A day with a shepherd family on the pasture — cheese, horses and the Girevi road.
Day 7
Down the gorge
Early descent through the Abano gorge and back to Tbilisi for evening departures.
